What’s in a name?

Dictionaries define a good name as “a person’s high standing among others.”  We associate words that describe a good name dignity, good report, honor, prestige, reputation, repute, respect, and status.”  A good name means people can depend on you. Seems that people can’t depend on much anymore. Can they depend on you? Do they know what to expect from you? Do they know your decisions were made with pure motives?

Look at how Proverbs 3:3-4 mentions a good name.  “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.  Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”  Love and faithfulness are included in the character traits that make for a good name. How motivated are you to have a good name? Start working on it today.
