Never give up!

Winston Churchill’s first words as Prime Minister to the House of Commons on May 13, 1041, were, “I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat.”  It’s interesting to note that Churchill was unpopular with many Conservatives and probably most of the Labour Party. But, in the midst of war with Germany, he rallied England to stand against tyranny. In fact, his words of strength and courage are what we remember to this day.

After the capture of Dunkirk, he rallied the nation with these words:  “We shall not flag or fail.  We shall go on to the end.  We shall fight in France; we shall fight on the seas and oceans.  We shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.”

Over and over again Churchill was calling individuals, a nation, and the free world, to “Never Give Up!”  Winston Churchill did not have the corner on courage and perseverance, the Bible does. So when you find yourself on the edge of giving up, remember…

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
