Leadership can be hard to define. On one end it can be specific to Fortune 500 marketplace companies and on the other end, it can be generalized to the way a family operates. There are many who would state that leadership is a commodity that is reserved for a select few. I disagree. Because there are different levels, intensities, and applications of leadership, just about everybody has the capacity to lead.
A parent shouldn’t ever abrogate their role of leadership in their family. The day-to-day decisions literally set the course of life for decades to come. One of the best leadership quotes I’ve ever heard was not from the 500 largest companies in the United States. It came from the mouth of a mother to her kids. “Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it. Right is right even if no one is doing it.” Now that’s leadership.
