It’s going to be alright

I just read a meme that really got my attention. It was a reminder of historical events listed by the year, the event, and what was said about it. I won’t share all of them but here’s a sample: 2000 – y2k is going to destroy everything; 2002 – West Nile Virus is going to kill us all; 2008 – The financial collapse is going to kill us all; 2012 – The Mayan Calendar predicts the world is ending. I think you get the idea. The truth is FEAR is going to kill you faster than just about anything else.

Years ago when my dad was alive and living across the country, I would call him especially when I needed some “dad” advice. I’d tell him my situation or problem and he’d listen. Then, in the end, he’d usually say, “Son, it’s going to be alright.” Just hearing him say those words seemed to wash over my fear. Now I knew that it would be alright in my heart, but I just needed to hear it from my dad. Maybe some of you can relate.

Right now, fear of the future, fear of the virus, fear of your financial security might be getting the best of you. Don’t let it. Psalm 34:4 speaks to this: “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”  Maybe it’s time for you to receive a little “dad” advice.
