I have a book on my desk that I’ve borrowed from my son and daughter-in-law. It’s called “How Not To Die.” Interesting title right? Actually, it’s a book about food. Food that’s good for you and some food…not so much. I got to thinking…” that might not be a bad title for the Bible.” John 11:24-25 says “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
It doesn’t get clearer than that. Everyone who believes in Jesus shall never die. Wow! What a statement. But people have a hard time believing. That may be true for you, but did you know it was also hard for those who actually heard Jesus’ words to believe Him?
For example, Jesus wanted everyone to believe in Matthew 23:37, “How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” There were many who were not willing to believe. The same is true today. It may be that it all seems foolish to say that you simply believe that a promise will be fulfilled for you. But, the truth is that a living faith can guide you to a great life now and eternal life with Jesus in heaven. The only question is whether I am willing! How about starting with a simple prayer, “Dear God, help me to believe in You.”
