It takes work and focus. What takes work and focus you might ask? Answer: Just about everything. Aside from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ which is by grace through faith, everything else takes work…hard work. And related to work is its familiar corollary: focus. It’s been said, “You can’t have a million-dollar dream with a minimum wage work ethic.” There certainly is truth wrapped up in that anonymous quote. The Bible is filled with verses that declare that truth. For example, it says in Proverbs 13:4, “The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the soul of the diligent is made fat.”
I was in track and field in college. I wasn’t the best on the field, but I think I worked as hard or harder than anyone else. I was usually the first on the practice field and the last to leave. There will always be people with more talent than you. But, what you and I lack in talent, we can make up for with sheer determination, hard work, and focus.
So let me ask you. What do you want to do? For the Kingdom of God? For your family? For yourself? Check your goals. Make sure they’re honorable, then focus on your task and work hard going after them. Simple advice that someone needs to hear. Is it you?
