We’ve got the greatest dog in the world. His name is Jackson. He’s a small terrier. He loves his family. He goes crazy when we get home. I can remember accidentally stepping on his paw not too long ago. Boy did I feel awful. What a monster he must think I am. He yelped a bit, but in a minute or two, he was fine, When I came home the next day I thought, “he’s going to remember my big fat foot” but he didn’t. He was still so happy to see me. All was forgiven and forgotten.
Kids also seem to have a short memory. They might even be a little quicker to forgive and forget than you and me. How do you measure up to that standard? Do you have a short memory when it comes to somebody offending you? How quick are you to forgive? When it comes to our salvation and our relationship with God, this is what the writer of Hebrews says about followers of Jesus…
Hebrews 8:12 “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Hebrews 10:17 “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
