Exercise (Also please read request at the end!)

Posted in

I like to exercise. Maybe you do too. I first started running and jumping in grade school. I had a never-ending reservoir of energy. Now that I’m older, the intensity of my workouts is not as great. In college, I can remember regular workouts where I worked so hard that I had zero energy left at the end. I left it all on the field. I couldn’t do one more exercise, one more sprint, or one more jump. Now there was a lot of fond memories in those college days. The hard work made me stronger and faster.

But it’s one thing to choose to exercise, it’s quite another thing when life itself empties your tank of strength and energy. There have been so many times someone has said to me, “I can’t do it anymore and I’m tired of trying.” My response is usually encouragement. That’s not bad, but consider this…When people say “they can’t do it anymore,” I’ve come to understand, they’re right. They can’t. Either can you. Either can I. We were designed to have God live and work through us. This is what Galatians says the Christ-life is all about. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
